How it all started...
On January 19,1896, a board member of First Christian Church at 9th and Broadway gave the church the lot on the corner of 25th & High Streets. He hoped the church would become more active in city mission work. A chapel was dedicated on July 4, 1907, to serve the fast-growing east side of the city.
During the Depression era, a new building was constructed by the unemployed members. The Madison Park Christian Church building was dedicated in 1929. As the church grew, one of the members donated another lot to build a new worship center in 1958. The church continued to grow and flourish.

Expanding the vision...
In April of 1972, the congregation paid off all of its indebtedness and began a new building fund. A planning team recommended planting a new congregation on the south side of town. On March 3, 1974, Madison Park Church commissioned 78 people to form Payson Road Christian Church (now known as The Crossing.)
In 1983, Faith Christian Church was established on the north side of Quincy. In 1986, Church Growth services developed a 25 year blueprint for growth, which the church embraced. In an unusual turn of events that we believe were God ordained, the former Jacks building (4700 Broadway) was purchased in September of 1988. The building at 25th & High Streets was sold, and services were held at the YMCA until July of 1990.

Where we are headed...
God has continued to bless Madison Park Church through innovative leadership of her elders and staff. The leaders of Madison Park Church continue to seek opportunities to reach the unchurched of our communities represented. More and more efforts are being put forth to provide ministry to people with real needs locally, nationally and internationally. Sharing the Gospel for people to experience genuine Life Change is our goal.
The history of Madison Park Christian Church is a history of change. Visionary leaders have made innovative decisions, allowing the congregation to move forward and God to bless in ways beyond most people’s imaginations. We trust He will continue to bless as we continue to follow.
