Why Rethink Christmas?

We’re hardwired for eternity, and our legacy should be built accordingly.

Since Acts 2, AD 33, the Church has carried the responsibility of pointing people to the resurrection of Jesus Christ—the foundation for a life that matters now and a legacy that lasts forever. As people transformed by Jesus and filled with Holy Spirit, we know who we become and what we invest our lives in matters.

At Madison Park Church, we Rethink Christmas because we believe the Church is one of God’s primary ways the world encounters the Good News of Jesus.

In a season focused on celebrating Christmas, we want people to encounter Jesus, not simply the holiday. Instead of allowing materialism and consumerism to shape us, we choose sacrificial generosity—generosity that anchors our souls, matures our families, and helps people far from God encounter the hope of Jesus.

Everyone leaves a legacy. We want ours to point people to the greatest gift of all: eternal life found in Jesus. That’s why we Rethink Christmas.

Operation Christmas Child: Goal 1,000 boxes

Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child is a highly regarded, successful ministry that reaches people around the world in tangible ways that lead to gospel conversations. Through this project, Samaritan’s Purse partners with the local church worldwide to share the Good News of Jesus and make disciples of the nations. We are collecting shoebox gifts filled with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items for children around the world. The project delivers not only the joy of what, for many kids, is their first gift ever, but also gives them a tangible expression of God’s love. Along with their shoebox gift, children also receive The Greatest Gift, a colorful presentation of the Gospel in their own language.

Christian Education: Goal $25,000

We value opportunities to support our cities, encourage families, love our neighbors, reveal light to communities, and invest in the next generation. Over the years, we have done this in many ways: providing tangible support to the local public school system, strengthening afterschool programs, and partnering to help those in need. This year, we are focusing on Christian education in our local communities. The following are Christian education institutions that are making an impact in our local area and with families at Madison Park Church.

The Oaks Academy - Carthage, IL
- The Oaks Academy aims to transform generations through Christ-centered, classical education, cultivating wisdom and virtue, and yielding lives marked by the display of God’s splendor.
Palmyra Christian Academy - Palmyra, MO
- Palmyra Christian Academy exists to train up the next generation of Christian leaders with a solid academic and Biblical foundation.
Quincy Homeschool Conference - Quincy, IL
- The Quincy Homeschool Conference exists to empower parents to live out their God-given calling through practical homeschooling resources, discipleship, and community.

Student Ministry Mission Trip: Goal $50,000

We are partnering with God to make the world a better place. As image-bearers of God, we are called to live out Christ’s presence in the world and remember what Jesus considered to be the greatest commandment: Love God and love others.

This summer, we are providing a unique opportunity for Senior High students to serve cross-culturally through GO Ministries. Through an eye-opening experience of serving, worshipping, and building relationships, students will be challenged to deepen their faith and become better at loving God and loving others.

God commands his people to make sure the next generation knows the gospel so they have access to the life-changing hope of Jesus. One of the best ways to challenge our students with the goodness of God is through our summer trip experiences. Below you will find information on which experience is best for your family and you can sign up at the Rethink Christmas booth. As a result of your generosity over the years, scholarships are available so that all desirous students have an opportunity for a summer experience.
